IGFP: JAIL BREAK Season One, Episode One “The Arrival” Genre: Sci-Fi Thriller / Crime DramaFormat: Streaming Series PilotEstimated Episode Length: 45–60 minutesEstimated Word Count Goal: 10,000–15,000 words for Episode 1 COLD OPEN EXT. EARTH – ORBIT – NIGHT The planet turns silently beneath a blanket of clouds. City lights burn across continents like electric veins. New York. Bangkok. Shanghai. Tokyo. Seoul. Los Angeles. Everything alive. Everything connected. Everything watched. A low-frequency HUM begins. Not music. Not thunder. Something deeper. Something older. The lights on Earth flicker. One pulse. Then another. Then every satellite above the planet turns at once. As if obeying a command. CUT TO BLACK. A symbol appears. Not human. Not language. But every person who sees it understands one thing: Authority. TITLE CARD: IGFP: JAIL BREAK ACT ONE INT. NEW YORK CITY BAR – NIGHT A crowded bar in Manhattan. Music thumps. Glasses clink. People laugh too loud. Televisions above the bar play cable news with muted captions. At a small table near the back sits MEGAN CARTER, early 30s, sharp-eyed, tired, ambitious. A journalist who has spent too many years chasing stories nobody cared about. Across from her is TOM RODRIGUEZ, late 30s, off-duty corrections officer. Built like a man who learned patience the hard way. Next to them, half-listening and half-watching his phone, is LIAM BENNETT, 21, college student, conspiracy addict, UFO believer, the kind of kid who says “I told you so” before anyone knows what happened. Megan checks her phone. No messages. No editor response. She exhales, irritated. MEGAN Nothing. Not one reply. TOM Maybe your editor is asleep. MEGAN My editor sleeps when the truth is convenient. LIAM That’s why independent media is the future. Tom gives him a look. TOM Kid, your “independent media” is a guy in a basement yelling over blurry UFO footage. LIAM That guy was right about the Chilean naval video. TOM That guy was drunk. Megan smirks despite herself. The bartender turns up the news. ON TV: A panel argues about prison reform, rising crime, overcrowded facilities, wrongful convictions, private prisons, and political blame. Megan watches closely. MEGAN That’s the story. TOM What story? MEGAN The prison system. Everybody talks about it like numbers. Beds. Budgets. Sentences. But nobody wants to ask what happens when the cages break. Tom’s face hardens. TOM They don’t break. People do. Before Megan can answer— Every television in the bar glitches. The music cuts out. Phones freeze. The lights dim. A wave of static pours through every speaker. People groan, curse, tap their screens. BAR PATRON Yo, what the hell? The TVs go black. Then the symbol appears. Large. Alien. Perfectly still. The entire bar falls silent. Liam slowly stands. LIAM No way. Megan stares. Tom reaches for his phone. It shows the same symbol. Every phone in the room does. Then the voice begins. Not loud. Not emotional. But impossible to ignore. IGFP BROADCAST We are the Intergalactic Federation of Police. The bar freezes. IGFP BROADCAST This is the closest translation your species can understand. Megan lowers her drink. MEGAN Is this some kind of marketing stunt? Nobody answers. MEGAN This has to be a movie trailer. Right? Tom shakes his head slowly. TOM Not funny. He turns his phone toward her. Same broadcast. Same symbol. TOM If this is a prank, somebody just walked through every firewall on Earth. Liam’s eyes shine with terror and excitement. LIAM I told people. I told everybody. Megan looks at him. MEGAN Liam. LIAM No. No, listen. They’ve been watching us. The broadcast continues. IGFP BROADCAST Unfortunate for some, but fortunate for the rest, intervention is necessary. The TV image shifts. Prisons appear. Different countries. Different languages. Different uniforms. The same locked doors. IGFP BROADCAST First Phase: all prison cells on Earth have been unlocked. Tom goes still. Megan turns to him. TOM No. IGFP BROADCAST Those prisoners are free to leave. Gasps ripple through the bar. A woman screams. Someone laughs nervously. Someone else starts praying. IGFP BROADCAST This decision has already been made. Tom pushes back from the table. MEGAN Tom? TOM I need to call the facility. He dials. Nothing. No signal. Only the broadcast. IGFP BROADCAST Many who remain free have done worse than those imprisoned. Many who were punished were innocent. True offenders walk freely and continue their crimes. Megan’s reporter instincts ignite. She starts recording with her phone. It won’t record. The screen refuses. MEGAN Come on. Come on. IGFP BROADCAST The balance has failed. Your society will collapse without correction. Liam whispers. LIAM They’re cleaning house. Megan turns on him. MEGAN They just opened every prison on the planet. LIAM Maybe that’s the point. MEGAN The point? Do you hear yourself? Tom’s jaw tightens. TOM It means chaos. The bar doors burst open as people rush outside. Sirens begin in the distance. Not one. Many. Tom looks toward the street. TOM Total chaos. CUT TO: ACT TWO INT. LOS ANGELES HIGH-SECURITY PRISON – CONTROL ROOM – NIGHT Red emergency lights flash. Monitors freeze one by one. Correctional officers pound keyboards, shout into radios, check dead systems. At the center of it all is OFFICER JENKINS, 50s, senior corrections officer. Veteran. Hard eyes. Tired soul. He has seen men lie, beg, bleed, and change. Tonight, he sees fear in every guard around him. OFFICER JENKINS Lock down every block. YOUNG GUARD Sir, we can’t. Controls are dead. OFFICER JENKINS Then do it manually. YOUNG GUARD Manual locks aren’t responding. Jenkins turns slowly. That scares him more than anything. The intercom crackles. The IGFP symbol appears on every prison monitor. IGFP BROADCAST Some cells remain locked. The guards stop. IGFP BROADCAST These cells remain locked because we possess proof of their crimes. INT. CELL BLOCK C – CONTINUOUS Rows of inmates stand at their doors. Some curse. Some pray. Some laugh like madmen. Some are silent. Inside one cell stands MARCUS REED, 40s, hardened, muscular, eyes like burned coal. A man with a grudge carved into his bones. Two cells down is DESHAWN CARTER, early 20s, scared but trying not to show it. Too young to look this tired. The broadcast echoes through the block. IGFP BROADCAST We have weighed your crimes against your good. Marcus slowly smiles. IGFP BROADCAST If you have killed without cause, your cell remains locked. A few inmates start yelling. One man slams his fists against his still-locked door. LOCKED INMATE Open it! Open this damn door! Marcus watches him. Amused. IGFP BROADCAST If there was cause, it was reviewed and considered. Deshawn grips the bars. DESHAWN What does that mean? Marcus glances over. MARCUS Means somebody up there likes us. DESHAWN Or they made a mistake. Marcus steps closer to his door. MARCUS Kid, when a cage opens, you don’t ask why. You move. The broadcast continues. IGFP BROADCAST Those who remain know who they are and what they did. A loud mechanical CLICK echoes through the block. Then another. Then hundreds. Cell doors unlock. The sound rolls through the prison like thunder. Marcus pushes his door open immediately. He steps out. Free. Grinning. MARCUS Guess it’s my lucky day. Deshawn’s door hangs open. He doesn’t move. DESHAWN What’s happening? Around him inmates spill into the corridor. Some run. Some attack. Some drop to their knees. DESHAWN Is this real? INT. CELL BLOCK C – GUARD STATION – CONTINUOUS Jenkins storms in with three officers behind him. He yells into his radio. OFFICER JENKINS Control, we have a breach. All cells are open. I repeat, all cells are— The radio screams static. The IGFP broadcast drowns him out. IGFP BROADCAST We hope this becomes a lesson for all of you in your next lives. Marcus walks past Jenkins. Smirking. MARCUS Lesson learned, officer. Jenkins raises his baton. OFFICER JENKINS Not another step, Reed. Marcus stops. Turns. The corridor around them erupts into violence. MARCUS You really want to do this tonight? OFFICER JENKINS I’ve wanted to do this for twelve years. Marcus laughs. Low. Ugly. MARCUS Then maybe it’s your lucky day too. Marcus lunges. Jenkins swings. The baton cracks against Marcus’ arm, but Marcus drives forward and slams Jenkins against the wall. Officers rush in. Inmates crash into them. The block becomes a storm of bodies. Deshawn sees his chance. He steps out. Slow. Shaking. Then runs. CUT TO: ACT THREE INT. MODEST SUBURBAN HOME – NIGHT A quiet family living room. Warm lamps. Half-folded laundry. A child’s toy truck on the floor. The kind of home that feels safe because it has never been tested. SARAH MILLER, late 30s, mother of two, stands near the couch with her youngest child tucked under one arm. Her teenage son, JACOB MILLER, 15, sits on the floor glued to his phone. Her husband, ERIC MILLER, early 40s, watches the TV with skeptical annoyance. The news anchor stutters through breaking coverage. Then the TV glitches. The IGFP symbol appears. Sarah freezes. Jacob looks up from his phone. Eric leans forward. IGFP BROADCAST Phase Two. Sarah’s grip tightens around her youngest child. IGFP BROADCAST All prison facilities will be destroyed within eight Earth hours. Silence. Jacob’s phone slips slightly in his hand. IGFP BROADCAST Full evacuation is recommended. The broadcast shows maps. Red circles appear around prisons. Twenty-mile evacuation zones. IGFP BROADCAST Remain outside a twenty-mile radius. The entire compound will be vaporized. Sarah whispers. SARAH Did they just say they’re destroying the prisons? Eric stands. ERIC No. No, that’s not possible. SARAH What kind of monsters are these? Jacob scrolls fast. His face drains. JACOB Mom. No answer. JACOB Mom, look. Sarah doesn’t move. JACOB It’s everywhere. TikTok, live streams, emergency alerts. People are running from prisons already. Eric grabs the remote and changes the channel. Same symbol. Another channel. Same symbol. Another. Same. ERIC It’s a cyberattack. Sarah turns on him. SARAH Eric. ERIC A massive one. Government systems, media, phones— SARAH They hijacked every device we own. ERIC That’s what cyberattacks do. SARAH No. They don’t talk to the whole planet at once. Jacob’s phone buzzes. Emergency alert. Then another. Then another. A siren begins somewhere outside. Sarah walks to the window. Neighbors are coming out of their houses. Some carrying bags. Some crying. Some pointing at the sky. Eric follows. ERIC We’re nowhere near a prison. Jacob checks a map. JACOB Dad. Eric turns. JACOB County detention center is eighteen miles from here. Sarah’s face changes. Mother mode. No more fear. Action. SARAH Pack bags. Now. ERIC Sarah, slow down. SARAH No. You can stand there and debate aliens with the television. I’m getting my children out of the blast zone. Eric stares at her. The broadcast repeats. IGFP BROADCAST Eight Earth hours. Sarah grabs Jacob by the shoulder. SARAH Move. Jacob moves. Eric looks back at the TV. The IGFP symbol reflects in his eyes. For the first time, he believes. CUT TO BLACK. END OF PILOT OPENING SEQUENCE
