My mother allows me to live rent- and utility-free in exchange for homemaker services. She is about to retire, and her health is not the best, having recovered from cancer surgery. She needs help maintaining the house, as she became a widow in 2007. My son has lived with me for the past three years (2021present). I just got him through high school and have begun the college enrollment process. Prior to these three years, my son lived with me during my **TANF protection years (20082015)**a fact that the court ignored. I moved to Hawaii for two years, during which time the courts **knew of my location** and even sent confirmation that they were going to garnish my wages from a job in Hawaii. Despite this, they still issued a **warrant for my arrest for missing court**, even though they had documented knowledge that I was in another state. When I returned home two years later, they **arrested me in front of my son on Easter**, claiming I had a child support warrant. Upon moving back to 1003 Mayer Dr. in Florida after this arrest, I was also caring for my **mentally ill daughter**. Despite this, they arrested me again, adding more stress to my already difficult situation. My daughter was in and out of mental health facilities and, unfortunately, **passed away, leaving her son in my care**. My sister later adopted my grandson for financial support, as I was already strugglingwithout a drivers license and under constant threat of arrest for being poor. My sister is a **travel nurse**, which means I am responsible for getting my grandson to and from school, as well as taking him to his **track and extracurricular activities**. I also volunteer as a **coach for the Jacksonville Police Athletic League track team**, where my son has been competing for the past two years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work became an opportunity for me. I secured a **sales job with Comcast** and worked there for two years. At that time, my mother, grandson, and sister were living in Hawaii, while my son and I remained in Florida at **1003 Mayer Dr.** I paid the mortgage and utilities, while child support garnished **$10 bi-weekly** from my wages **toward arrears for an emancipated child**. However, when I lost this job and my unemployment benefits ran out, child support **began targeting me again**, claiming that $10 bi-weekly was **not enough**. In a hearing, the officer allowed his **emotions** to interfere with his ruling. Instead of basing the order on my actual financial situation, he **arbitrarily decided that I must pay $300 per month**. Additionally, he stated that he would **force me to search for a job daily and report my job searches to him**, which felt like a form of **forced labor or rulership over my life**. I am tired of the state **bullying me**, treating me as if I am their **property**, and my children are **commodities**. I never signed a **loan agreement** that obligated me to pay **interest** on child support payments, and yet they continue to enforce it as if I did. The system is designed to keep people like me trapped, rather than providing real solutions for struggling parents.
